Falkland House Surgery - Patient Participation Group

THE PATIENTS PARTICIPATION GROUP(PPG) provides an opportunity for all patients registered with Falkland House Surgery to have their say about services provided by the Surgery or in the wider health service.

Significant changes are taking place within the NHS - your involvement with the PPG enables you to learn about these changes and express your views, ideas, and opinions and give feedback.

The PPG meets every quarter with representatives of the Practice, but you don’t need to attend meetings.   You can be part of the group on a virtual network (email) and still be involved in all that is taking place.

The PPG produces a quarterly newsletter providing a wide range of information; undertakes fund raising events to procure equipment for the surgery, e.g. defibrillator, phlebotomy chair; and endeavours to keep abreast of changes taking place in the NHS so that you can be informed.

The PPG applied to the British Heart Foundation in conjunction with the Department for Health to see if we could be provided with a community defibrillator free of charge. The application has been approved and we will shortly be receiving a shiny new defibrillator and cabinet! The cabinet will be sited on the outside wall of the surgery so that it will be accessible to the community. One of the conditions attached to the supply of this is that we maintain it, train community members to use it and publicise it. We will be using the Quiz fundraising monies to help cover this. More information to follow – watch this space!

Falkland House Surgery is pleased to announce that we are now an affiliated member of N.A.P.P. which is the National Association of Patient Participation

Since April 2015 it is a contractual requirement for all English practices to form a patient participation group (PPG) and to make reasonable efforts for this to be representative of the practice population.

PPGs are grass roots organisations which respond to the needs of their own patient and practice community. They aspire to contribute to continuous long term improvement in quality of patient care and improvement in the patient experience.

If you are interested in joining the Group – please contact the surgery (0114 2660335) or email: or speak to Reception.
